Elizabeth Hebing has been playing flute for over eight years and is currently studying with Professor Alberto Almarza at Carnegie Mellon University. She had previously studied flute with Heidi Ruby-Kushious of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Carmella Cao in Henderson, Nevada.
Elizabeth is currently a member of the Carnegie Mellon Wind Ensemble, as well as the Carnegie Mellon Opera Orchestra. Before attending Carnegie Mellon, she was a member of the Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas (YAO) for three seasons. She was awarded First Prize in the 2022 YAO Carol Jackson Concerto Competition and performed Fantaisie for Flute and Orchestra by Georges Hüe as a soloist with the YAO in the fall of 2022. Elizabeth also worked with local adult ensembles in Las Vegas, routinely performing with the Nevada Chamber Orchestra, and as a first-call substitute for the Desert Winds for two years. She was also a substitute flute for the Henderson Symphony Orchestra.
She was named a 2023 National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition finalist in addition to being awarded one of three spots to perform in the 2022 National Flute Association High School Masterclass in Chicago. Elizabeth performed as a soloist with the Henderson Symphony Orchestra in March of 2022 as a past winner in their Young Artists Competition in the Junior Division in 2020 and Senior Division (Audience Prize) in 2021. Other past accolades include first place in the Senior division for the 2021 Central Ohio Flute Association (COFA) flute competition, Nevada State Winner in the Junior Woodwind and Senior Woodwind Performance categories for MTNA, MTNA National Finalist in the Junior Woodwind and Senior Woodwind Performance categories, and National Finalist in the United States Marine Band Concerto Competition.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, hiking and visiting National Parks, fashion and beauty, shopping, reading and journaling, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
